Opened in 1997, Chinese Asian Gourmet offers a stunning variety of Australian-Chinese and Cantonese fare. Seating up to 60, the restaurant is spacious enough to accommodate those looking to hold a large gathering while also intimate enough to be an attractive destination for couples looking for something a bit more low key. Decorated in a beautiful but simple fashion, it is apparent from the moment customers walk in that the focus is on the food.

The restaurant’s menu is jam-packed with delicious dishes including Roast Chicken Tomato, Chinese Asian Gourmet’s signature dish. Consisting of roast chicken, tomatoes, eggs, and paired with vegetables, the dish is as visually expressive as it is delicious. Other popular dishes include Hainan Chicken, Dry-fry Rice Noodles with Beef, Stir-fried Rice Noodles, and Spicy Chicken. The chef, who is a fan of the recent healthy dining trend, uses traditional cooking methods while also making sure that all dishes are prepared in a healthy manner.

Owned by Ming Hu, the restaurant has gradually accumulated a huge legion of fans. A favorite of office workers and Chinese exchange students, the restaurant gets crowded during prime lunch and dinner hours. “Me and my classmates come here for lunch because of the huge portions, quick service, and of course the great taste,” raves one customer.

Arriving in Australia 20 years ago, Ming brought with him an extensive knowledge of Cantonese cuisine. A native of Guangdong province in China, he decided to enter the restaurant industry because of his desire to bring authentic Cantonese cuisine to Australia. Always looking for new inspiration, Ming loves socializing with customers and values their feedback.
